The amazing creative union of two brilliant musicians of the 20th century Montserrat Caballe and Freddie Mercury gave birth to the one-of-a-kind album “Barcelona”. It all started in March 1987, when Freddie met with Montserrat in Barcelona. Then he gave her a cassette with several of his new songs. Caballe liked these works, and she even performed one of them at a concert in Covent Garden in London to the great surprise of Freddy. The release of the joint album was preceded by two performances by Freddie and Montserrat, they performed the famous Barcelona, which Freddie dedicated to the hometown of Caballe. On October 8, 1988, three songs from this album were performed at the La Nit Festival in Barcelona: Golden Boy, How Can I Go On, and Barcelona. For Freddie Mercury, this was the last performance. The title track of the Barcelona album was the anthem of the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.
